Cobalt Alloy Castings from Pacific Alloy Casting, Los Angeles, CA

Specification for Cobalt Alloy Castings ASTM A-732

Cobalt and cobalt alloys are non-ferrous metal composites that contain cobalt, a metallic element with a higher melting point than nickel or iron alloys.

Their properties are high strength and toughness, excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, and high-temperature strength.

The single largest application for Cobalt-based alloys is wear resistance with hardness up to 800HB.

Cobalt alloys have high strength at elevated temperatures and good creep and thermal fatigue resistance, so they are used for turbocharger turbines and aircraft turbines. They can be welded or used in electroplating.

Cobalt alloys also are also used for prosthetics like artificial hip joints, because it is strong and lightweight and non reactive to body fluids.
